Gratitude*Sunday

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Thunderstorms and the rainbows that follow them.
* Listening to my husband read our son bed time stories and sing him to sleep.
* A fresh haircut.
* Exercise.
* Taking care of myself again. Because that means this fucking fog is finally lifting again and maybe I'll be laughing more easily again soon.
* Music and Harry Potter re-reads.
* Huge hug tackles after Acorn yells "hug!" and charges me down to jump up and wrap his arms around my neck.
* Lone long walks in the heat. This just ties back in to "taking care of myself".
* Being OK with what I do and don't get done. Knowing it's enough.
* Hard stable ground and strong winds whipping around.

Gratitude*Sunday A Day Late

Each Sunday I stop and count my blessings.

Taking time to honor the things I've been grateful for throughout the week. A quiet, weekly practice of appreciation and positivity. A time to breath and reflect. A small step towards a more simplistic and appreciative outlook. Feel free to join in. <3

This Week I am Grateful For:

* A patient, loving, unwavering husband who is my rock through the even the stormiest periods of my anxiety and depression.
* Getting some time with a beautiful friend who I don't see as often as I'd like, who is in a huge transitional period. The fact that she takes the time to talk and care about other people's shit during her own upheaval is wondrous.
* Sipping sangria poolside. Seeing Acorn actually enjoy the pool for a little bit.
* Our neighbors treating us to a delicious lunch.
* Speaking what I want aloud, even though it sounds so cheesy. Letting go of judgement of that cheese.
* New hammock straps that make it a cinch to put up - hammock hangs after bedtime with my love. Watching fireflies dance around us, bats fluttering overhead, and a huge owl swooping out of our pine trees. I guess I know why I haven't seen as many hawks around the yard this year.
* Going through and paring down my jewelry & fabric collections. Letting go of things is far more freeing than I'd anticipated.
* Acorn picking a flower for his friend, then dumping dirt in her hair 5 minutes later, then a few minutes after that ripping out an entire plant to give to her which Joe quickly replanted. It's the thought that counts, right? :)
* Having a very light, happy, uplifting weekend. Seriously, I'd call it perfect.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Starting and making good progress on my very first Waldorf doll!
* Rainy days - playing in the wet yard as the rain comes down.
* Watching Acorn's fascination and interaction with bees. He squats down by bees and goes "zzzzzz" at them and offers them clover flowers.
* Good books.
* Remembering to recognize all of my creative endeavors as worthy, not just the painting. Sometimes I get so hung up on the fine art, meanings, seeking, uncovering, and feelings aspects of Art (with a capital A) that I feel like despite creating things, I haven't been "creative". Thank you, Cynthia, for the timely reminders.
* Date night with Joe! We went to a 90's themed adults only party at the Children's museum and had so much fun! We danced to our old jams, dressed more or less like we still do (shh... once a child of the 90's, always a child of the 90's), made some crafty souvenirs, and played! Best date ever.

Joe playing music on an organ made of plastic pipes.

Me climbing in the giant, rainbow colored climber! My claustrophobia acted up at the very top where it narrowed, but my fear of heights did not. Booyah!

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Good chats with friends and the husband.
* Empathy.
* Sunny days and Summer showers.
* Getting the last of the flooring bought for our big living room renovation. Now we just have to wait for Joe to get his time off sorted out!
* New flowers in the garden.
* Creative time with friends. Chatting about Desire.
* A patient, steadfast, loving husband. My rock in the storm.
* Acorn's attempts to stall bedtime by giving me tons of kisses. So sweet.
* Making the decision to accept help in all of its forms. I have a referral out, waiting to make the appointment.
* Books that make me nod in agreement, laugh in commiseration, and sob in understanding.
* All the iced coffee.
* Accidental altars.
* The fireflies being back.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Not having guilt for all the take out and money spent, which helped save my sanity and patience while I was severely sleep deprived this week.
* Finding a deeper well of patience than I knew that I had.
* A very amazing and kind friend offering to come over and help me with Acorn for a few hours one evening so that I could get a few solid hours of uninterrupted sleep. Illness + Developmental Leap + Dad being gone = one sleepless toddler.
* Warm weather and a kiddo who was content to hang in the hammock with me for a bit.
* Re-reading Lord of the Rings and remembering SO MANY things that I had completely forgotten!
* All the new sounds that Acorn is making and words and signs that he's trying out.
* His first animal sound! He pointed at a crow in the sky the other day and said "caw! caw!" When I asked him, "what does a crow say?" He got this HUGE grin on his face and delightedly said "caw! caw!" again. A corvid lover after my own heart! I'm such a proud mommy! :)
* Reuniting with our favorite guy after a week apart!
* Kiddo's first real Easter festivities. We didn't do anything last year because he was too little to really participate in much. We did an egg hunt yesterday morning. I was a little nervous that he'd get knocked down, be overwhelmed, or not really get it, but he ran all over and delighted in throwing the eggs he found in to his basket. Later on, we went to see the Easter Bunny. And while he wasn't totally sure what to make of him, he willingly sat on dad's lap next to the bunny and petted his hand - so we took a family photo with him. :)
* The look of wonder, delight, and surprise when he spotted his "basket" on the kitchen table this morning! In lieu of a basket full of sugary candies, the bunny brought him a little plastic wagon with some garden tools, bubble stuff, sidewalk chalk, play doh and some sand molds to use with the play doh or his water table. He spent a lot of the day pulling the wagon around, and even put eggs in it when we did an indoor (due to rain) egg hunt after his nap. :)

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Catching up with our friends who we haven't seen in a little bit, and a trip to the zoo with the three amigos. Who all let us know when it was time to go. ;)
* Friends who come over and spend their entire Saturday helping us out in return for food and conversation. This time it was fixing Joe's truck.
* My good friend Jenn taking me to my favorite local brewery to do a glass etching class as a late birthday gift.
* Spending time with creative friends at Cynthia of Spirit Uncaged's house. I so need and refill at these creative women's circles she started. It's a beautiful energy and time to experiment and work on projects. It's been the best medicine for me.

* Time with my best friend, Michael. We suck at best friending lately, but we're working on it.
* Repurposing old artwork from high school and my time in BIG with Dirty Footprints Studio in to a gigantic art journal by tearing it up and sewing it together. Hat tip to Hali Karla for the inspiration to take the plunge and breath new life in to old work.
* Spending most of our waking time outside this week. It's been too beautiful to be indoors!
* Meeting another Stay at Home mom and Harry Potter fan at the park and skipping small talk and talking about our sons, husbands, hobbies, and lives. I hope to see her again! Awkward penguin here didn't ask for her number or anything. Whoops.

This Week I Am Grateful For:

* Joe taking such good care of me when I was the sickest I've been in over a decade last weekend. The 72 hour flu was awful, but he made it less miserable.
* Redoing my kitchen chalkboard.
* Scheming some renovations for the house and a new garden.
* A much needed date night with my hubby. A good friend came over and knit and hung out after Acorn had gone to sleep so Joe and I could abscond to the local brewery for drinks, chatting each other up, and live music. We went out for burgers afterwards, where we made faces at the little boy in the booth next to us. He thought it was hilarious!

* Getting over the stomach bug that mopped the floor with Acorn and I last week. Somehow, despite being thrown up on by our son, Joe missed out on the bug train. Lucky man.
* Making time to art journal.
* Getting out of the house. Acorn and I went to toddler gymnastics class, a boat load of stores, and played outside as much as possible after being cooped up in the house sick.
* Some "aha" moments while finishing up SouLodge with Wolf. The beginnings of a serious contemplation about holding a women's circle, feeling out intentions and guiding values.
* All the cardinals, robins, and crows flittering about the backyard.
* My dudes eating a dinner that did NOT turn out as expected. That's the last time I trust a recipe that I have questions about.
* Getting some much needed yard work done.
* My sister sending me "a few" (a medium flat rate box full) of my great aunt's jewelry. She's one of my very favorite family members, but the saucy old pistol moved out of her home in to an assisted living facility, and when she did so she told my family to take what they wanted because she wasn't going to move it again. Looking through it made me smile, cry, and ask out loud "what the fuck was she thinking?" :)

* A little red wagon.
* Acorn's desire to help with all the things. If I open the laundry room doors, he runs over and says "dryer?" because putting the wet clothes in there is his favorite chore after feeding the dog. He has a mini set of garden tools, a mini broom, and his very own spray bottle of water to clean with. That last one is his favorite.
* Love, love, love.
* Sunshine in a hammock.
*

This Week I am Grateful For:
* For a Yule celebration split between friends and home. I didn't do what I normally do, which was good because I didn't have the energy for a big cooking session or staying up in to the wee hours. It was exactly what I needed.
* A kind, considerate and supportive husband who doesn't take it to heart or personally when his extreme introvert wife gets overwhelmed by her house being full of his (extremely talkative) family for 10 days. Who nudges me off to the bedroom or my studio to take a bath, read or just hide out and let the buzzing of my overwhelmed brain quiet back down before it all becomes far too much for me to handle.
* Getting my studio put back together a bit more. It's been in chaos and disarray since Chico passed away in early November. He destroyed the carpet in there due to organ failure and we had to take everything out, tear up the floors and start over and between sadness, holiday madness, depression and a young infant it kept getting shoved to the bottom of the to-do list. I spent 3 hours in there after Acorn went to sleep the other night to be alone and made some great progress. It's starting to feel better in there again, which is making my Muse peek her nose out from under her blankets in interest.

* Incredibly thoughtful gifts under the Yulemas tree.
* Laughter. I don't recall what we were talking about or what happened now, but earlier this week something happened to Joe, he said something sarcastic about it and I laughed so hard and so long I was crying. I can't remember the last time I laughed until my sides hurt.

* New crystal acquisitions! I picked up a few tumbled stones to wrap and a raw flourite and amethyst for my altar and the girl at the gem store gifted me with 5 amethyst points just because! She had no idea that amethyst is my favorite stone or how badly I need it's energy. I love those magical moments! While I was sorting the tumbled stones, one of them was giving off such high vibrations the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end - a highly holographic bloodstone. It refused to be put away, zinging me if I tried to do so, and so it joined the others on my altar.
* Acorn woke up a little after I had put him to bed the other night and Joe went in to soothe him. When I went in a few minutes later to check on them Acorn reached out for me and Joe told me he'd been babbling "momomomomomomom" while he was fussing. He stopped as soon as I walked in. *heart, melted*

This Week I am Grateful For:

* More time with my family than I expected! For laughs and talks around my kitchen table, for cooking in my kitchen alongside my mom, for getting to watch my son light up at everyone and to see the delight and love for him on their faces. For sips of fresh coffee together in the mornings, for my brother's hilarious rendition of "Let it Go" from Frozen, for the non judgmental curiosity and questions over my choices of cloth diapers and breastfeeding - firsts in my family. For things feeling comfortable and normal and happy, they way they always should when a family is together, for the first time in 5 or 6 years - since we all moved apart.
* The time spent watching the interaction between Khloe (3) and Acorn (4 months tomorrow). She kept telling him she loved him and he is her best friend and he would giggle and squeal and tell her all sorts of stories that she had no desire to share with us. On the last night, while he was laying in bed getting a diaper change, he was fussing. She came in, crawled in bed beside him, shushed him and patted his belly, put a little blanket over him when he was done being changed to "tuck him in" and then said "I'll show you how to sleep" and laid on the pillows to try to help him fall asleep. My heart was a puddle.
* Journaling, both in my own journal and in the one I started for Acorn.
* Hot, relaxing baths and glasses of wine.

* Functional heating, blankets of all shapes and sizes, my beat up slippers, a brand new soft hoodie and the snuggles of my boys and fur children to keep my heart and body warm now that we've started to have truly cold days here.
* A gentle pattern to my days emerging. A cycle of sleepy eyed, milky mornings spent in golden morning light, playing and breakfasting giving way to afternoons spent napping, cleaning and reading leading to daddy coming home from work to scoop us both up in hugs and kisses before dinner. As the light dies we may wander the neighborhood before Acorn's bedtime. The night wraps up with lazy kisses, curled up in bed, quietly talking before sleep claims us. All broken up with quick snippets of time to write, to draw, to create, to reflect.
* Quiet moments of crocheting in bed before bed.
* A brand new, soft pullover sweatshirt that my mom surprised me with after I mentioned that it was pretty. I'd forgotten how delightful and snuggly a hoodie that isn't a decade old and threadbare is! Also, even as a grown ass person, I still get all excited over presents from my mom.
* The crisp, clean bite to the air both in feel and scent, of the tail end of Autumn.
* Quarts and quarts of long stewed homemade bone broth, portioned out and tucked away in the freezer for the coming Winter.
* Signs and messages from the Nature. The medicine of Falcon, Crow and the (unpleasant) encounter with cockroach. I hear you, Universe. Loud and clear.
* A sense of ease and peace over me that I haven't felt in months and months. A sense of gentle confidence, of easiness, of no stress and quiet happiness.

* Joe's unwavering love and support during not only the good times, but the god awful terrible, I don't even want to write about them ones. It takes a lot to stand with someone during hard times, but it takes so much more when that someone has a mental illness. I am a truly lucky person.
* The support of friends while I've been grieving and in tremendous amounts of pain due to sciatica. Offers to come clean, cook, hold my kiddo or just sit with me are not unnoticed and are so very appreciated.
* Our amazing veterinarian. He took such good care of our Chico, right up until the very end. I've lost a few pets over the years, to sickness and old age, but never have I had a vet give the passing of a pet the same level of respect and care as that of a human family member. He offered his condolences, spoke to Chico, spoke to us and prayed before he began the injection. It was all handled in such a kind and caring manner. And a few days later, we received a card of condolence in the mail. A paper card, with a signature and everything. Not an impersonal email. Really. Our vet is wonderful.
* The good health of my remaining furry family members, our kitty Mister Molly and our crazy dog Luna.
* Getting out of the house and in to the mountains, if only for a very brief period of time before my back made me go home.
* Acorn's "singing". He's started to get the hang of his vocal range and has started, for lack of a better word, squealing. And sometimes when he gets REALLY in to it, he closes his eyes and throws his head back while smiling, like a little rock star.
* An eye doctor who gets me in as soon as I call to take care of my eye troubles. I'm so sick of this thing I could scream, but I won't. I'll keep on keeping on, taking my meds, seeing my doctor and hoping for the best.
* A nice glass of wine or a pint of good beer.
* My family FINALLY coming to visit me here in the South! :)
* Cool weather and gorgeous foliage.
* Line dried clothes. I don't know, maybe I'm a huge nerd. But I really like the task of hanging them, taking them down and then the super clean scent of them.

This Week I Am Grateful For:

* Gorgeous Autumn weather! It looks and feels like Autumns back in New Jersey. I've broken out the afghan for the bed, my slipper sock, flannel shirts and have been drinking hot coffee and tea. I'm in my glory!
* Finding Sketch Dailies on Instagram. While I may not work on every theme they post, it's nice to have some inspiration for a before bed or nap time doodle.

* My ridiculously awesome husband for bringing me lunch and giving me a much needed break during a very tough day. For shooing me away and taking care of so many things so I don't stress about them. For playing along with my silly photo shoots and adding his own ideas to make them even better. For being understanding, kind, gentle and supportive of me, even when I'm tired and bitchy, distant or crying for no apparent reason. He is the one who hangs the moon for me.
* The crows cavorting in the yard while I'm hanging laundry on the line. The other morning one swooped and flew so near to me that I felt the wind off of its wings and heard the sounds of its feather slicing through the air. It was pure fucking magic.
* For fellow artist and soulful woman Cynthia for heeding the call within her to gather with other women, to call them forth in to safe sacred circle on the New Moons. I've often spoken of wanting to find my tribe, to find a group of wild women to circle with. To beat drums and bear souls and to not have to wear masks or play the games so many women seem to enjoy. And, I believe I've found that tribe. There is an energy, a fire and a commonality that links all of us together and when we share our stories and speak our truths it leaves me buzzing with energy.

* Quiet, beautiful moments between my son and I. When he drifts off to sleep in my arms, looks up in to my eyes while he's nursing and smiles, babbles at me when I talk or read to him or reaches his arms up to me.

* Celebrating 6 years of marriage to my best friend and love of my life.
* Mini golf, milkshakes, smooches and booty shaking.
* Being able to stay home and raise my son. He turned 12 weeks old on Thursday and if I were going back to work today would have been the day he'd go to day care and I'd go back. Even on difficult days, I get to comfort him, get the baby snuggles, listen to him babble and watch him learn. Not a stranger. And that is something I am so very, very grateful for.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* My evening ritual that I wrote about here. I think Joe also really enjoys this evening sit down of ours; he got tied up on the phone and in the middle of a project the other night and when Luna and I came in for the night said he was bummed out that he didn't get to hang out with us. Poor guy!
* It being cool enough a few mornings for me to get out in to the garden and do some maintenance. I needed to put bigger cages on some of the tomato plants, guide the cucumber up some additional trellis, pick some goodies and pull some tenacious weeds. I'm going to need to relocate a pepper plant or two as the plants I put around them have grown out of control and are blocking the sun a bit. And spicy peppers LOVE the sun, so that won't do.
* Having a surprise dinner date with the hubster when I said I was having a craving for a Mexican Coca Cola (made with real sugar and not corn syrup - so much better!). Rather than taking me to the store for a bottle, he took me to this little Honduran/Salvadoran restaurant for Pupusas and Coke. :)

* Getting outside and making some flower/plant mandalas on the patio table. I've never done them before but have been feeling this urge to do so. They're a great way to take a few minutes to really be "in the moment" as I gather, arrange and handle all the different natural elements involved.
* Having a great meeting with our doula. Baby is in an excellent position, we're all healthy, our birth plan is in place and we had good convos about all sorts of non-baby stuff too. When I'm less busy after baby's arrival she may even have a lead on some illustration work for me.
* Finished up the trio of small firefly paintings I've been working on for myself. Now to find a good place to display them in the house!

* Altered some maternity pants that friends gave me in to shorts so I can be comfy since I'll be pregnant and recovering throughout the entire Summer.
* Going out to dinner at our favorite pizza place to celebrate a birthday with friends.
* Small bunnies and baby birds all over the place in the yard! I love watching them all when I'm out there throughout the day.
* Re-Reading Harry Potter again, as I do every Summer. I don't think I'll ever get tired of reading the stories over and over again.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Evenings outside in the adirondack chairs Joe made us, watching the fireflies and bats and listening to the bird song fade in to and be replaced by frog and crickets song. It's become almost a nightly ritual, one that helps me relax and unwind and fills my heart with delight and magic.
* Finishing a large WIP painting I started weeks ago. She did NOT go the way I expected her to, so it was surprising and challenging, but I'm very happy with the finished piece.

* Joe continuing to take such good care of me during this final, and most uncomfortable, stretch of my pregnancy. My everything aches, my hormones are at an all time high, sleep is a thing of the past, and the "OMG!" panic of the uninitiated parent has begun to set in for me. And through all the crying jags, doubts, limping, morning crankiness and upset stomachs, he's there to rub my back and belly, run me a bath, make me soup, pick up the house and reassure me. I know this has been on my list almost every week, but it is really and honestly the thing for which I've been most grateful these past months. This being pregnant thing has sucked for me and if it weren't for Joe and his unwavering support and love, I don't know how I'd have managed any of this.

* The Mothering Moon ceremony I held under the full moon Friday night in circle with sisters, friends, fairy omas and witchy women from around the world. I performed a ceremony to bless my upcoming birth with health, comfort and ease. Called upon Mother Moon to give me energy, strength and guidance and then after all was done, sat on my bed in the candlelight and strung beads from all of those aforementioned beloved women together to make a necklace to wear or hold like prayer beads when baby is ready to come. I'll post more about this in another post.

* Luna's first post-op appointment went well. Her wound is healing well and the surgeon said the knee is feeling good so far. She is still on heavy restrictions, but we can now add in 3-5 5-10 minute walks on leash in the yard a day to her potty breaks. She goes back for her next re-check a mere week and a half before baby is due.
* Made a trek to the farmer's market Downtown early Saturday morning before the heat got too bad. We walked around for over an hour, looking at all the different vendor stalls and sipping some locally roasted iced coffee. I picked up a beautiful and delicious quart of fresh blackberries that I've been putting in my oatmeal and yogurt as well as some big healthy herb plants; an anise hyssop, a lavender, a chocolate mint and a perennial chamomile. I've never had luck with my lavender growing, though every year I try and try again, so hopefully bringing home such a big, healthy specimen will get me started on the right foot.
* Mini magics spotted around the house. There were trios of these teeny tiny mushrooms in the backyard, which I always find to be extra magic as they only appear on damp nights and disappear shortly after the sun touches them and there was also a cheeky little frog prince hanging out by the front door last night.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Getting out of town for a long weekend in the Smoky Mountains with Joe and the pup. This was our last vacation before baby comes. We rented a cabin and spent 4 days immersed in nature, rocking chairs on the porch and a big jacuzzi bathtub.
* Getting beautiful beads in the mail from lady friends, sisters and wild women all around the world to string in to a chain of prayer beads to take with me when it's my birthing time. It'll be a powerful, eclectic talisman of sisterhood, solidarity and love. If anyone would like to send me one to add, shoot me an email and I'll get you the details and my snail mail address.
* Joining the 100 Happy Days project which I'm participating in via Instagram. Hormones, discomfort and a slew of other things have been weighing me down and making me emotional lately, so being mindful of finding at least one bright spot each day is important to me right now. Most of these Gratitude Sunday posts will probably sport a lot of my happy days pictures and items for a bit. It's honestly easier for me to snap a picture than it is to write in my journal before bed these days, as once my body hits the bed I'm out.

* Luna making it through her surgery smoothly and easily. She's recovering well, perhaps a little too well as she's only had 3 days of recovery so far and is already trying to break every rule the doctor gave us; especially running and jumping. I'm glad that I have a level headed husband around to offer suggestions and reassurances when I feel like the most rotten dog momma on Earth for keeping Luna penned up when I'm doing something where I can't keep a close enough eye on her to ensure she isn't getting up to things.
* Joe whittling me a wooden heart out of the cedar heartwood while we were porch sitting.

* Getting started on painting the baby's nursery. I've decided to take my time with it and break up the painting over a few days since 1) I feel like there's a watermelon in my gut and it makes my hips unhappy if I stand/sit/squat for too long and 2) the room is empty and it bores Luna to death so all she does is sleep while we're in there. It's a win-win!
* Making time to paint. Even if it feels a bit like dragging myself kicking and screaming to the canvas due to the serious "don't wannas" I've been having. Once I'm working and especially once I'm finished, I feel so amazing. It's starting that's difficult these days.
* Making progress on my pregnancy journal, which I'm making from a repurposed board book.

* The baby plants in the garden are doing well! We've already got some peppers that needs picking, some baby tomatoes coming in and cucumbers that are starting to climb. I need to get my bean seeds in the ground still but they grow so fast I can be a bit late with those.
* Fireflies. I've been looking outside the past few evenings when I feel a bit glum and those bright bugs dancing in the field and trees that make up our backyard put a big cheesy smile on my face.

Gratitude*Sunday

I'm joining Taryn at Wooly Moss Roots and several other lovely bloggers in honoring the things for which we've been grateful for throughout the week. A quiet, weekly practice of appreciation and positivity. A time to breath and reflect. A small step towards a more simplistic and appreciative outlook.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Painting.
* Fresh Strawberries.
* The shiny new waffle maker we got. I won't lie, I've eaten waffles almost every morning this week. :)
* Nights where I wake up to go pee fewer than 10 times.
* Bullshitting and board games.
* Starting our very first batch of scratch-made wine. With those aforementioned fresh strawberries. We'll let you know how it is in 6 -12 months. This is a process of patience!
* Sunny, breezy afternoons outside in the yard with Luna and a good book.
* Naps. I don't really enjoy napping, because they sometimes make me feel all foggy headed and I hate wasting sunlight hours, but I'm grateful that when I need one I can take it.
* Joe being patient and hugging me while I yell about being sick and tired of being sick and tired. I know I don't have it as bad as some people, but fucking A, am I tired of this gods dammed lethargy and food issues. And no amount of anyone telling me to "enjoy the naps" or "don't beat yourself up" is making me do either of those things. So patience is a good thing.
* Bartering some things I was going to garage sale for an elliptical machine AND a fancy green beaded hemp necklace.
* Making progress getting stuff out and labeled for next weekend's garage sale.
* A great deal on a 2 night stay in a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee. Just gotta call up and reserve our dates, then off we go for a few nights of technology free R&R.
* A great meetup with my doula, Julie.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Sunny afternoons spent outside.
* Long warm baths to soak the aches from bones and muscles alike.
* Free iced coffee! (I'm an iced coffee junkie)
* A safe and enjoyable (if quick) trip to NJ to visit friends and family one last time before baby comes this Summer. The trip back felt so much better than the trip up.
* Getting all the baby things tucked away neatly in to the closet. The rest of the future nursery is still a disaster, as it's a holding pen for all the stuff we'll be trying to get rid of at a garage sale next month.
* Canoodling with the husband.
* The yard looking better than it has in 2 years! We've been working really hard to get things in order this season.
* Biting the ears off chocolate rabbits, dying eggs and other Easter shenanigans with Joe.
* Homebrews galore! Every batch Joe's made has turned out delicious. The one I made is still fermenting, but since it came from a super simple kit, I'm sure it'll be just fine. ;)
* Long weekends.
* Forcing myself to not be a hermit and join Joe for a game night at a friend's house. We had a lot of fun, stayed out late and as a bonus, there was cheesecake. :)
* Getting a little bit of painting mojo on. As mentioned in my previous post, my motivation these days is somewhere in the toilet, so every little thing is a victory right now.
* Little successes on the road to not being hard on myself for aforementioned lack of energy and motivation.
* Hitting the 26 week mark! It's both exciting and scary as shit.

This Week I am Grateful For:

* Making time to work in my art journal.
* Venting heavy, but honest feelings to a small number of friends. Being witnessed and actually heard, versus just being told "it's ok" or having my back patted out of pity was more cathartic and helpful than I can say. These friends sharing their own stories of loneliness, longing for a tribe close at hand, womanhood, pregnancy and motherhood made me feel so much less alien and alone.
* Members of my Fearless painting tribe here in the South East hearing my frustrations and needs through my venting and pulling together to try to host a date to come circle with me here in my town. To meet up, paint, recharge and lift me up in the true spirit of sisterhood. Even if it doesn't happen due to scheduling, distance or other circumstances, just knowing these women who I've traversed this creative and emotional road with care enough to even consider doing this, means more to me than I can honestly put in to words. The closest I can come is it's magic. Pure fucking sisterly feminine magic. And it's amazing.
* Women sharing stories of strength and beauty rather than horror stories and worst case scenarios.
* Honest, no fluff or bullshit, conversations.
* The simple magics wrought through candles, incense, stones and oracles.
* My husband's never ending patience with me, my slower place and my horrid food aversions. Especially when I am so frustrated and hard on myself.
* Sleeping in until what felt like a completely decadent hour. 11 am! Haven't done that in forever!!
* Working some more on that king size quilt I started nearly a year ago. I know you've all forgotten about it, I almost did too!
* Finding a four leaf clover on a rainy day.
* FINALLY getting my seeds started. Indoors. It's still too chilly at night for direct planting of most things. :(
* Luna being especially well behaved and loveable lately! I know I don't talk about it much, but she's sometimes very grouchy. I take days when she is sweet as can be as blessings and to get an entire week with only a few half hearted grumbles as I bump her over when I get up to pee in the middle of the night? It's like a miracle!
* My baby shower here in SC today. I'll have photos up soon. But it was a wonderful day! The girl friends who I asked to plan it for me did a beyond amazing job getting everything taken care of and set up, and though we held it at my house, I wasn't allowed to lift a finger. There were fresh flowers, fancy garnishes in lemonade for me, thoughtful and fun gifts, hilarious games. But the best part, honestly, was the lack of drama and time spent with our friends just hanging out and shooting the shit on a beautiful day. It was coed, because I don't see why guys should be excluded, so it was less of a traditional "baby shower" and more of one big happy BBQ where Joe and I didn't have to work and got to open gifts. :)

This Week I am Grateful For:

* My two best friends coming down from Jersey to stay with me for a week.
* Luna getting along with my friend Heather's dog pretty well and playing with him out in the yard.
* The smell of yummy beer being brewed. Joe's making a secret batch just for me. :D
* Time outside in the sun, even when I manage to get sunburn.
* Starting to get the garden situated. The weeds are extra killer this year and with my larger body and lesser energy, I've been having to tackle it in small sessions. I won't lie and pretend it isn't frustrating but there's progress.
* The baby's crib that my mom bought arriving. While it's exciting, it also made things hyper real and caused a brief panic.
* Good prices on home grown baby herbs at the flea market; picked up a mint, a lavender and a thyme plant for $3 and they're super healthy and fairly big!
* New stone finds at the rock shop at an amazing price. I was beyond excited to find untumbled/not polished stones.

This Week I am Grateful for:

* Dinners out of the house.
* My tulips and lilies are pushing their way through the soil and should be here soon!
* My studio clean-up is officially done!
* The crows cawing more than usual. In my neck of the woods, when the crows become even more active, Winter is nearly at its end. We have Robins all year round, so they aren't a reliable sign. ;-)
* A pretty new mug with a dragonfly on it from my hunny. It's the little things. :)
* Sleeping through a few nights.
* Catching up with my older brother.
* Grapes, Strawberries and yogurt; my current cravings.
* Making good progress in taking back the yard from weeds and overgrowth. It takes longer when you do your weeding by hand, but it's so worth it.
