Work in Progress Wednesday

I've still got several thing in the works, including my painting for DEEP which I should update on as we're now halfway through week 5 and there's only week 6 left to go! But for today, I'll keep it simple so I can paint and enjoy the first day of Spring.

Still working on The Lady. We're near 60 hours now and I'm adding snakes. SNAKES! This is a true testament of my ability to listen to my intuition and the painting for direction because, if I'm being totally honest, I don't like snakes. At all. Not even a little bit. And I've never painted them before because, *shivers* Well, I'm painting them now. And I'm not painting just any old friendly snake, like a garter or rat snake, nooo. I didn't know what kind of snake it was going to be when I started them, I just knew they had to be a grey/brown and looked through dozens of pages of images before I found the right snake. Black mamba. Oh boy.

Sketched and inked a new watercolor outline. Going to give this new style of mine a go in a different medium and see what happens. I'm sure it will be drastically different than the acrylic ones I do just by the nature of the mediums. But, it will be an adventure!

What are you all working on this week?

  1. Can't wait to see how your new watercolor turns out. I'm still working on my week 3 painting for BIG (I never expected it to take this long, but this painting is a mysterious force. Some days it screams to be worked on, and others she's happy to just stay quiet and observe the going on of my life). The kiddo and I are make some Ostara decorations so the altar will be getting all spring-ified today =D Have a blessed Ostara!!

  2. What a beautiful sketch! It's almost a shame to add watercolour to it. Your faces have become so confident and sure now, it's wonderful to see.

  3. I must confess... I love snakes & spiders... if I didn't think it was wrong to keep wild animals, I'd own some so I could be around them all the time. I've always wanted a tarantula, but don't want to keep one captive. Soooooo... I love that your intuition demanded snakes... the beautiful yet deadly Black Mamba, no less... ^-^

This week I'm going to be trying to fix my knitting... I dropped a stitch a few rows back & need to figure out how to fix it... @_@

But for now, I'm going to finish breakfast so I can go finish cleaning & prepping my porch for planting... since we actually have SUNSHINE today. =D

I can't wait to see that beautiful sketch water colored! I hope you're having a fabulous day, covered in paint. ^-^

    XOXO
