An Update on Khloe

Safe and sound back home with aunt Danni.

I'm back in Sc after a whirlwind few days and happy to report that for now, Khloe is right as rain. The doctors believe that she had a seizure induced by a rapid spike in her temperature caused by an ear infection. I had no idea that could happen to babies - that's really scary. They are testing her further just to rule out any possible neurological issues like epilepsy.

For now though, my family and I are monumentally relieved and I'm home playing catch up after what has been a tremendously stressful and harried week. BIG starts tomorrow and I haven't yet managed to get my space set up, but I think I can muddle through until I get there. I'm also behind on the summer of color which I plan to work on this afternoon. I have blog parties to announce and prepare for, laundry glaring at me, a garden that's wilting in this heat and a house that's less than clean.

Oh yes, and sleep. I need to catch up on that too.

Thank you everyone, for your thoughts and prayers and good wishes. Usually I'm not a crier, but reading through your responses on breaks as we traveled made the tears come on more than once. It's a tremendous thing, nearly overwhelming, to know that I have so much love and such a community of sisters, friends and kindred spirits at my back.

Thank you. xo

P.S. I went to the farmer's market this morning and having laid my eyes on these, just had to buy myself a gift. They're sitting in a large leaded glass victorian vase a friend gifted me and making me grin:

I'm not typically a 'girly girl' but flowers get me, every time.

  1. Such a scary thing to have to go through, but so very glad that little Khloe is on the mend. I'm not much of a 'girly girl' as well but I too have a soft spot for flowers and your's are gorgeous! Love the bright colors! /hugs!

  2. I can not tell you how wonderful it is to read this post. Knowing that Khloe is doing well makes me want to dance and shout! Glad you are safe and sound back home. Don't try to do everything at once...enjoy the flowers and peace of mind. Hugs, Robin.

  3. Such glorious news that Khloe is doing better! Sudden illnesses in children can be ever so scary. Hopefully the tests show nothing out of the norm!
And thanx for thinking of Colorado and all those affected by the wildfires. ♥ We could really use several days of rain. Last weekend, I had a bit of a scare when one of my sister's called to tell me that a fire had started approx. 15 miles to the north of where they live. The wind sent the fire to the northwest into some uninhabited canyons. But I was a nervous wreck for a day until I had an update. The fire is out now, but it is going to be long summer if this continues.....

  4. Wonderful news about Khloe. Thanks to Artemis, Hermes, the Morrigan, Saint Michael, Kwan Yin and all the others who heard our prayers. I was thinking about you the other day when a colleague and I volunteered to drive a large truck 20 hours to central Ohio and back. That was probably not too different from your dash to NJ, though we were less urgently motivated and the scenery was much nicer.

The flowers were exactly the right thing to do.

  5. She sure is a cutie! I'm so glad everything turned out okay. Ear infections at that age can be so tricky because the baby can't tell you where they feel bad. My daughter has autism and still can't tell me most of the time; a few years ago we had an incident where we didn't even know something was wrong with her until her eardrum ruptured. She never ran a fever. She did cry a lot one night but until the rupture we had no idea what was going on. She was fine and now we know what to look for and thankfully it hasn't happened since. Now Khloe's parents know too, so this won't happen to her again, either.

This parenting thing is a lot harder than it looks in the brochure. :o)

  6. So glad to hear the little one is out of the woods for now. My son used to get horrible ear infections and they were the worst! No seizures but the pain he experienced was horrible. I'm glad you bought yourself a beautiful bouquet. Doesn't make up for the worries but definitely lightens the heart and spirit. Still sending you and your family prayers for well being and happiness.

  7. Hugs... more hugs. How scary for your family. I always think it's worse when small children/babies are sick, as they can't tell you what's wrong. I'm so glad she's doing better. I'm also glad that you guys had a safe trip there and back. I'll be keeping Khloe and all you guys in my thoughts, and here's to it NOT being anything like epilepsy. Love and tons of hugs.

    XOXO

  8. Oh Danni, how wonderful that your sweet girl is home and well. Hopefully the tests will all return normal and there will be no more worries. It is so terrifying when a baby as that sick.

Your "to do" list sounds a lot like mine. Things just keep coming, a lot of them super fun stuff that I cannot seem to pass up. ;-) What's a girl to do? ;-)

Your flowers are so gorgeous and I am thrilled that you bought yourself a gift. You should do it more often. Hugs to you sweetie. Mina
