We've only been in our wee cottage a week and I'm already head over heels in love with our back yard. Not only is it a place where I can go out, play, plant and relax but there is definitely magic a foot; homes for the fairer fae and goblins alike have already been spied. I'm not sure if it is the same magic that draws me outside or the copious amount of insects and seeds, but something brings a great variety of birds and small wildlife to my yard.
While I've enjoyed watching them all as we've gotten settled, none have I enjoyed as much as our one new friend;
The chubby squirrel!
He darts around the yard, hides in the flowering trees and the big bird house but nothing entertains me more then watching how he sneaks seeds from our bird feeder:
I know a lot of people complain about squirrels being pests that knock over feeders, but so long as this little guy keeps being so polite about not spilling the seeds, I doubt I'll shoo him away!
How could I, with a face like that?
I love funny squirrels but they drive my cats nuts...They're little acrobats and your photos of your new "totem"? is perfect to enjoy the nature that is so beautiful where you live.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 squirrel feeders in my backyard, I love them too. We have 2 black squirrels that visit us often, that's really cool to see.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable!! I'm thrilled that you are having so much fun there, Danni.. it just feels like you've finally found HOME :)
ReplyDeleteahaha that is too cute!! I've never seen a squirrel literally hang upside down like that! We had out feeder out off the clothes line, so they could never get at it.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are loving the new place so much!
I am so terribly happy for you!!! Nature is so magical in itself.
ReplyDeleteNinja squirrel!
ReplyDeleteHes so cute! And super camouflaged! I could barely spot him!

I loves me some chubby squirrels! Now if only they'd stop digging in my roses... o_O
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents had a squirrel that would sit on their window sill & eat toast with them in the morning... ^-^
XOXO
How cute!! Squirrels are awesome. I have a tree outside one of the bedroom windows of my apartment and when it's warm outside the squirrels will use it as a place for shade. It's not uncommon for us to spy two or three just chillin in the branches to escape the heat. I'm going to miss this place when I move...just hope to find an equally magical new home.
ReplyDeleteI am soooooo jealous!!! Your back garden looks wonderful! And that wee squirrel, not to metion the fae folk... I think you two are going to be very happy there indeed :)
ReplyDeleteThe most beautiful place to live!!!
ReplyDeleteAww - I love squirrels too. Your yard is beautiful! Can't wait to see what you do with it as the seasons progress!
ReplyDeleteWe have many a chubby squirrel around here. They amuse me, too! They stop at nothing at the feeders. LOL They often spill the food, but the birds still manage to get enough to eat, too. Thanks for sharing your backyard beauty! Theresa
