I woke up early this morning to see the eye doctor. Before I left the house, I drank an entire pot of hot cinnamon spice tea:
Don't worry, my tea pot only makes two cups at a time!
The appointment went smoothly enough, I sat in the waiting room for less than 5 minutes before the doctor brought me into the exam room. A drop of dye and some extremely bright lights to see inside my eye later and we had a verdict for week one. My eye is healing, but very, very slowly. I'm to settle in for the long haul because he thinks that while it appears to be a minor eruption, it could recur within a few days of ending treatment. I'm to continue on with my current regiment until I go back for a follow up on the 20th and then we'll go from there. I'm less stressed than expected but this sort of news could only be lessened by browsing Halloween goodies at the craft stores.
While I had no intention of purchasing anything at all, I ended up leaving the store with these two wee friends to make my own:
Once I came home, I lit my big green healing candle on my altar...
made another pot of tea and kicked up my feet for a bit to watch my favorite sexy vampires of all time Lestat, Louis and Armand in Interview with the Vampire. My delicious Halloween treat for today. ;)
After my two hour swoon fest, I needed to work on Joe's anniversary gift, since that's creeping up on us this Sunday. We decided back when we got married that we didn't want to cause undue stress regarding gifts each year and decided we would try our best to make something for each other following the list of traditional (not modern or otherwise) anniversary gifts. Last year was paper and I made him a sassy book, which I didn't share here for obvious reasons. ;)
This year however, I was stressing over what I could make him out of cotton. A shirt? A fancy hat? No. I ended up stumbling across the perfect thing while perusing Etsy's geekery section for ideas and have been diligently working on my very first cross stitch for the past two days:
The pattern is called 'Forbidden Love', but I think Nerd Love more exemplifies mine and Joe's relationship. We both love Doctor Who and Starwars and what could be cuter than a Dalek loving rather than exterminating?
I can't think of anything.
I love what you are making for your Joe...How adorable and absotively geekalicious.
ReplyDeleteWish your eye was healing faster for your sake. I know you have the same heart wish. Have a super anniversary weekend. The Olde Bagg
I love the geek needle point and your idea of hand making each other gifts that really romantic and sweet. I cant wait to see waht you do with the little pumpkin twins! x
ReplyDeleteI love that you make each other gifts instead of just buying random stuff...so sweet! You must show us what becomes of the wee friends you bought. Best wishes for your health, have a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThat's the greatest 'geek' I've seen in a long time.
ReplyDeleteSo glad your eye is healing even if it's taking a while. I love the agreement and idea of exchanging heartfelt gifts instead of the forced flowers, etc...
ReplyDeleteThat cross stitch looks awesome!!
