If you know me well you know that I love music. While I listen to a whole lot of speed, fantasy and black metal I also have a serious soft spot if the song is special. "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" has always been one of those songs, but there is one particular version that moves my heart in profound ways whenever I hear it and I'd like to share that one with all of you.
The cheering towards the end isn't part of the recorded song, but this video includes clips of Israel's funeral, which unlike any funeral I've ever been to, was joyous and heartwarming. I found it suiting to include his farewell journey over the rainbow.
~one of my favorites...a beautiful beautiful song done in an amazing way...so sad his life came to an end so early in life...thank you for sharing...warm wishes and brightest blessings~
ReplyDeleteOh man, I LOVE this version of this song. It always gives me goosebumps <3 It is undeniably beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am also very much into goth, black metal and hardcore industrial/aggortech/EBM/whatever, but I love a bunch of other kinds of music too. And this is among them. Speaking of funerals... I have been to one of a close family member very recently and though it was "traditional" European one, I was not that sad "I would have to". Because I have seen the face of the dear old lady and she was smiling so joyfully... she was so calm and beautiful. I know she knew she is going to the right place and this also made me happy.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, sorry for this little interruption. Very nice song!
I've never been a fan of that song, but I heard this version a while ago and it really struck something with me. It's just so very sweet and has a sort of quiet joy about it.
ReplyDeleteThat is my favorite version of the song and the video is so touching. He was pretty special.
ReplyDeleteVery very awesome. I have always loved that song and that is a beautiful version.
ReplyDeleteMy most all time favorite version of somewhere over the rainbow. A friend of mine after moving back from Florida sat in her car with me and we played it over and over again and cried big tears. What a beautiful and moving version of an already beautiful song. New follower here...love the blogs and all your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI loooooove this version too, Danni... So touching and heart-breaking, his voice is so, so beautiful... But I've never watched the video, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteKisses from us.
I didn't know he died.... This has my heart melting and tears of deep sadness for a man that wrote my most favorite version on Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
ReplyDeleteYou are right what a beautiful funeral for a beautiful man...
Thanks~
